New survey carried out by Shelter finds that, due to the high cost of housing, 57 per cent of prospective parents put off having children for up to five years, 16 per cent of people knew someone who moved in with a partner quicker that they would have liked to because they couldn't afford to live alone, and one in ten people wanted to leave their partner but couldn't afford another place to live.
