Pip Mobility and residential care
Hello hive mind.. I have a couple of allocations from social work teams to check entitlements for patients in care. None of them are IRO Pip Mobility - but probably were on point of entry. I am confused why does it end? Is a new claim needed or should it be put back into payment from the 28 days from admittance when PIP / DLA stops? My caseload tends to be more mental health as opposed to physical.. so that could make needing supervision a little trickier.. but not in all cases.
Thanks for any replies
PIP are very quick to treat res care as a similar institution to a hospital and suspending payment of the mobility component. This is particularly the case where the claimant has CHC funding.
If the person is entitled to PIP mobility at either rate when they enter res care, continue to meet the conditions and provided it doesn’t count as nursing care that makes it a similar institution PIP mobility is payable. A letter to PIP to this effect usually gets them to reinstate and pay arrears.
