Bills on asylum support and refugee family reunion receive first reading in House of Lords
The Asylum Support (Prescribed Period) Bill introduces a minimum period of 56 days before an asylum claim is considered to be determined for the purpose of ending asylum support (doubling current 28 days).
The Refugees (Family Reunion) Bill provides for leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom to be granted to the family members of refugees and of people granted humanitarian protection; and for legal aid to be made available in such cases.
