JSA for 16/17 year olds living with parents
If a 16/17 year old is living with their parents, is not in education/training, is not in the Child Benefit extension period, is not disabled, and doesn’t have any dependent children, is the general rule that they will not be able to claim JSA?
I’ve dealt with loads of 16/17 years who are estranged from their parents and get IS or JSA, but someone asked me today about a 16/17 year old who still lives with their parents, and I realised that I haven’t dealt with a ‘straightforward’ case like that before. The CPAG book refers to so many exceptions that I got a bit lost trying to trace through them all.

Yes
They’re a NEET.
