EAT rules that foster carers in specialised scheme for children with complex needs were council employees
The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain reports that, in this judgment, the Employment Appeal Tribunal held that foster carers in a specialised scheme for children with complex needs were council employees, and so entitled to employee rights including sick pay, holiday pay, a guaranteed minimum wage, and protections for whistleblowing.
