‘Housing Transfer Manual: Period to 31 March 2015’

New DCLG guidance for local authorities and tenant groups who are looking to transfer their housing stock to a private registered provider, replaces the 2005 edition of the Manual and its 2006 supplement, and applies (in whole or part) to all housing transfer applications.

In its report 'The work of the UKBA', the Home Affairs Committee says measure in Immigration Bill could produce 'a bonanza for unscrupulous landlords' who already operate outside the law and raise the possibility that private landlords will discriminate against all immigrants regardless of their status.

Proposed new rules for setting rents for social housing in England from 2015/16

DCLG consultation proposes moving from annual increases in weekly rents of RPI + 0.5 per cent (+ up to £2), to increases of CPI + 1 per cent, and that the limits on social rent levels would be lifted where tenants earn at least £60,000 pa.

Redress schemes for private rented sector letting and management agencies

Government has published a draft statutory instrument setting out its proposed provision for the conditions that redress schemes must meet before the Secretary of State may approve the scheme or designate it as a government administered redress scheme - a subsequent statutory instrument will impose the requirement to belong to a scheme.
