out of date giro and ex-gratia payment
Apologies if this is obvious or answered somewhere else, but…
Had a call from Social Services who have taken over as apointees for a client with mental health issues. They found half a dozen uncashed giros in her home (for GPC) - they sent the giros to the Pensions Service asking for them to be reissued but got a letter back saying that the PS adviser had checked their guidance and because the giros were over twelve months old there’s nothing they can do.
Is there nothing they can do? Am I simply going to draft a begging letter for an ex-gratia payment? Would appreciate any thoughts. Ta.
