Hi,

Very rarely deal with DLA but have an MR next week so wanted to get some clarification on it.

1. There’s no lower age limit (besides under 16 and over 3 months unless terminally ill) for the higher rate component of Care, is that correct? I know there is for the mobility component but just checking about the High Rate Care component.

2. The main issue I’ve had when dealing with DLA claims in the past is proving that the child needs more help than a able-bodied child. Is the tactic the same as with PIP e.g. medical evidence, supporting letters etc. Is the parent a ‘reliable witness’ or do I need someone outside of the family unit?

Thanks

Adam
