Support for Mortgage Interest Loan - Does it reduce the amount of transitional protection?

As the thread title really! I’ve got a client who has an amount of transitional protection included in their maximum UC. They would be entitled to an SMI loan but I’m just second guessing myself as to whether or not it would reduce the amount of their transitional protection? Any guidance gratefully received!

No, it isn’t an element of UC. Reg 55(4) UC TP Regs - “A “relevant increase” is [...] an increase in any of the amounts that are included in the maximum amount under sections 9 to 12 of the Act.”

If your client also claims help with owner-occupier service charges as a HCE, then that part would result in erosion.

Thanks Elliot! I’d followed the legislation that far and my gut instinct was that it wouldn’t erode the protection but then started second guessing whether Section 11 of the WRA 2012 was just referring to the HCE or not!
