PIP Case Law 7th September?
Hi Julie - I’ve checked for any new guidance, legislation or case law and can’t find anything that suggests a change on that date. If you do get anything that sheds light on it, please do share.
If you’re struggling to get an answer I could send up an email via the stakeholder forum - I can usually get quite a quick answer on PIP queries. Let me know if you would like me to do this
Is this talking about the introduction of light touch reviews?
I don’t think so because whatever the alleged change is, it’s stopping the claimant get daily living component from 7 September
if you can ask the Stakeholder Forum that would help - thanks
I’ve done that Julie - will let you know when I hear…
I have had a very quick reply - there is no law change!!
We are aware that there is an error with the letter PIP7003s as attached, and this letter incorrectly displays the change in law paragraph.
There has been no change in law on the 7th September, that is the date which the decision was made, and the letter has been populated with that date based on that.
When the letter is issued it should be manually corrected by the Case Manager issuing the letter. It appears that this has not happened for the attached customer, and I apologise for this.
If you can get me the customer details I can get an amended decision letter issued for the customer.
Julie if you want to email/DM me the client’s details, I can pass them on (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address))

I wondered whether there were 2 bits to it.
“On 07 September 2023 there was a change in the law which changed the way we decide PIP claims…”
It’s about the right time for the light touch reviews to start
“.. so I have had to look at whether you could get PIP from 03 May 2023 to 06 September 2023. Then I looked at whether you could get PIP from 07 September 2023”
Could there have been a review which changed things?
addendum
But thinking about it does seem pretty definite that it’s looking at a change in rules. Ignore me.
