Stranded abroad
A colleague has a client claiming UC who has been stranded abroad for 2 weeks now. Has the Government mentioned any proposals to deal with that as this will start to affect a raft of benefits if the clients are stranded abroad for more than 4 weeks? I couldn’t find anything.
Bump. Has anyone seen anything about this, including the rules on temporary absence for disability benefits and ESA?
This isn’t really definitive as such but in a telephone conversation with an official from the Pension Service last week, he indicated that the strong steer from ministers was that people shouldn’t be penalised if they were overpaid as a result of being stranded abroad and exceeding the usual temporary absence restrictions.
Do not think there has been any changes on this, has anyone seen or heard anything about this scenario?
Best wishes
