Hi,

I was checking a service-users benefits today and notice there is a CE in the calculation as oldest child in receipt of CDP. Does the CE mean both parents can opt not to look for work? Currently the CE is for mum. Dad working but wants to give up work to look after oldest child. Mum potential for LCW/LCWRA.

No, just the person getting carer element so he risks sanction etc depending on the circs. If Mum got LCWRA and Dad got CE then neither would have to look for work.
