Hi sorry the title sound a bit convoluted but basically I have someone who has been on ESA for a long time was initially in LCWRA but got moved to LCW a couple of years ago.  They have been supported by work coach to find work but it is only temporary for a few weeks.  The work coach has told them not to close their ESA claim but claim UC as this will transfer their ESA status when the job ends.

This doesn’t sound right to me please can someone advise. They are earning too much for permitted work.

Is the ESA CB or IR?

I guess the thinking is that if they migrate now the WCA outcome will follow them into UC so will still be there from a conditionality point of view when the work ends.

IIRC it will also give a Work Allowance (if they don’t get one by another route like having kids) while they’re in work.

But maybe I’m missing something bigger.
