Carers Element and Carers Allowance
Hi,
Can the same person get the Carers Element and Carers Allowance at the same time?
Client migrated over to UC with CA - I’ve looked on his UC payments and he’s getting the CA deducted but is also getting the Carers Element. I’ve not seen a claim where you get both (caring for the same person so its not for a different qualifying person)
Just wanted to double check if this was allowed or if it was an error as don’t want the client having to pay it all back!

Hi Adam- It’s possible to have the Carer Element without a claim for Carer’s Allowance having been made or in payment, but if Carer’s Allowance is in payment, a claimant should have the Carer Element included in their UC. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/657878350467eb000d55f61d/admf6.pdf
