extension of the £20.00 uplift
The uplift in Reg 3 of The Social Security (Coronavirus) (Further Measures) Regulations 2020 is due to end in April 2021.
I know there have been quite few campaigns to get it extended but I don’t recall any news stories to say that the gov has changed it’s mind- am I right in assuming that UC and WTC will go down from April 2021?
At this stage. yes the working assumption is that the “20 uplift will be scrapped next April but I’d assume we might know bit more when the annual uprating rates are published in the next month or so.
I think chance we may find out more on wednesday at the spending review…
No feedback on that but we’re told to expect good news for pensioners.
I don’t know how reliable it is as source but the Daily Mirror seems to think the £20.00will be retained and also added to legacy benefits.

Apologies if you get this twice my PC crashed

I can’t see HMT saying anything different to announcement a few hours earlier, but hope I have to eat my words!
The statement included the following
“..... The statutory annual review is separate from the temporary £20 per week uplift to Universal Credit and Working Tax Credit, which was announced by the Chancellor as a temporary measure in March 2020, and enacted for one year under different legislation to support those facing the most financial disruption as a result of the public health emergency. As the Government has done throughout this crisis, it will continue to assess how best to support low-income families, which is why we will look at the economic and health context in the new year….”
has anyone found the full uprating details for 21/22?
It will be deposited in HOC library, but not there yet.

does announcing PC rates and pension rates mean another freeze?
Trythis one <https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukdsi/2020/9780111192634/introduction> This was the 2020 uprating, just depends if you find the deposited paperor the uprating order first

No rates as yet, just this news https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/16780/
Perhaps I’m reading too much into this, but the latest HB circular includes the following line, which sounds pretty final:
The additional earnings disregard in HB that can be applied to those entitled to Working Tax Credit is £17.10. The temporary increase to £37.10 in 2020-21 will not be continuing in 2021-22.
Doesn’t sound good.

DWP saying in reply to LA enquiries that the circular is correct as at the date of publication and not elaborating further. Don’t know how much to read into that

Splendid stuff.
I’m behind the times as ever - I suppose should start doing Twitter but I just can’t face it. Enough of a twit already….
