Housing costs restored for young people - climbdown!
Any news on when yet or are they hoping we won’t notice
Can’t be long now?... SSAC minutes of its July meeting include discussion of the draft regulations - the Universal Credit and Jobseeker’s Allowance (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2018.
And in July the committee said the regulations for this could proceed!
It is now the end of October!
It’s December. Confirmed in the Budget apparently.
Regs are out -
The purpose of this instrument is, principally, to amend the Universal Credit Regulations 2013, to allow all 18-21 year olds to be eligible for support with their housing costs (as announced by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in a written statement on 29 March 2018) and to extend the existing support for children who would otherwise be likely to be in local authority care (as announced by the Secretary of State in a written statement on 27 April 2018).

I think I must have emailed every MP in constituencies, where young people have been affected. I told a bunch of performing art students last night, they were literally ‘jazz handsing’ everywhere! However, some students have already had to leave their chosen course, which is very sad.

Brilliant .... great campaigning ... and love ‘jazz handsing’!
