In case you haven’t found them, final UC regulations were published today at http://www.dwp.gov.uk/policy/welfare-reform/legislation-and-key-documents/welfare-reform-act-2012/welfare-reform-regulations/ (go down the page to where it says draft regulations).

The new impact assessment is at http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/universal-credit-wr2011-ia.pdf and the SSAC report and govt response is at http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/ssac-universal-credit-report.pdf

And now for the happy task of reading through them!

Has anyone read the regulations about non-dependent deductions under UC?  It appears that the legislation is proposing a flat rate of £68 for anyone over the age of 21 - I can’t seem to find anything more - I hope I have read it wrong!

I don’t think you have read it wrong Evelyn, it certainly looks that anyone classed as a non-dependent will be expected to contribute the £68 p/w figure (subject to the other exceptions for DLA/AA/PIP etc).

£68 is per assessment period i.e. per month not per week.

Hi - thanks for the responses - I have now heard that the £68 figure is per month as UC is paid monthly - still a great departure from the current system especially the age requirement.

It’s about £15 pw.  The intention is to apply to each non-dep.  over 21 (as A HCC- Housing Cost Contribution).

A couple of points on this:

*Each* non-dep. - no couple rate.
Exemptions for those non-deps. disabled (except low rate DLA), those under 21 and those receiving Pension Credit (presumably including the new Housing Credit and those getting PC because of children).
A similar exemption applies for disability of the claimant or partner.
Non-deps. over 21 but under 25 will no longer escape.
