Direct payments
Just a quick question - will direct payment of housing costs still enable an additional sum to be deducted against arrears?
I’d have thought it was more likely to be the other way round, so to speak. My understanding is that the third party deduction scheme for debt is likely to continue, but it will be much less normal for the housing costs element will be paid direct to landlords, even in the social sector.
Its top priority in the list eligible deductions in the draft regs, but only to the extent of 5% of the standard amount of benefit
