Childcare costs under UC
Just looking at regs re childcare costs which state “The childcare costs condition is only met in respect of an assessment period if those charges are reported to the Secretary of State before the end of the assessment period following the assessment period in which they are paid.
Assume that means claimants will not be allowed to do annual average as they currently are with WTC
How does that tie in with the UC payment being made at the end of the month if the relevant child care costs are not going to be included (calculated) until the end of the following month. Won’t that mean potential over and under payments if child care costs vary month to month? How will that leave claimants (for example in holidays when costs can be increased significantly) if they do not receive additional UC for two months? Many child care providers require payment at beginning of month not at end.
How will they have to be provided, electronically?
On another topic does anyone know how UC will treat term time only workers? As TCs?
