I frequently work with clients who have difficulty budgeting and who are awarded large lump sum back payments of benefit following a PIP appeal. I am aware that its possible to ask for the lump sum to be instead paid in instalments, does anyone have an guidance on how this normally works - level of payment for instalments/length of time.

This Rightsnet story has more details about how this should work in practice but neither link to the DMG or the ADM works so maybe someone can point you in right direction.

I havne’t been able to find where the memos have been absorbed into, but this story gives the legislation with some info from the explanatory memorandum -

Found it - para B1009 onwards - https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1087473/admb1.pdf

not that it says much!

But I remember at the time discussing it at stakeholder meetings where they said there was quite a degree of flexibility depending on the claimant - I would ring and discuss
