BBC - Anti-Welfare Propaganda
Anyone else noted a recent trend on the BBC news website to misrepresent and denigrate disability benefits claimants - 2 recent articles titled ‘benefits claimants fit to work’ and ‘thousands of addicts on benefits’ are particularly selective (to be charitable) with their facts and figures.
This from the organisation which provides the ouch! disbility forums and represents itself as fair and unbiased is an absolute disgrace. I expect this propaganda from The Mail and The Express but not the Beeb.
The Express front page today is outrageous, with claims of 800,000+ “benefit cheats” related to ESA stats.
Very disappointed with the Mirror also which ran a similar small piece on p.2 about “Sickie cheats”.
See also the interview by Ben Brown on 13 December 2010 on the BBC News Channel with Jody McIntyre, who was on the student demonstration in London. He was in a wheelchair as he has cerebral palsy and was being pushed by his brother. He was pulled out of his wheelchair by police. Ben Brown asked “did you throw anything?” and suggested he was “wheeling himself at the police”.
The One Show did a little bit on the change to ESA from IB last night.
Filmed partially in Manchester for some scenes and the rest in Stockport with a local GP.
It’s in the first 5minutes of the show. Which is a blessing.
It was swiftly followed by Saints and Scroungers…....
Then Eastenders…....?????
