Local Authority reviewing approaches to LHA Exempt landlords

Hi

I have just been contacted by an LHA exempt provider who provides supported housing for refugees.
They do not receive supporting people funding or any other funding - the rent level exempt covers the cost of providing 2/3 hours support per tenant per week.

They have just been contacted by the Council Supporting People Team (with whom they have never had any contact) asking for the names and contact details of all the tenants with view to interviewing them about the support they receive

This may be part of a wider strategy intended to ensure those who claim exemption really do offer support to their tenants and are entitled to it and for those who are not, save some money.

If this is a HB/ rent entitlement review (of some sort) why the SP team are requesting tenant contact details as opposed to a HB officer/manager using information already provided in the claims, given that LHA exemption is a HB legislation compelxity.

Does anyone know of any other work currently going on around continued eligibility of LHA exempt accommodation/support providers and how HB is approaching this?
