Mini update after last night ... France’s exit has blown it wide open, with all of our 4 joint leaders pipping them for the title ... of our top 4, only Bram can collect points for the Golden Goal (currently led by a Spain player) .. although Bram has picked England!

So the way is open for Esme (Spain for winners) and Paul (England) to snatch the win .....

... our top 4 now therefore cheering for the Netherlands!

You’ll be very deserving of at least a book token if that comes off ...

With 10 points for the winner it’s Paul or Esme isn’t it?  Even if Bram’s golden boot prediction comes off, Paul or Esme will win by 1.

Yes I think so ..... (going to save me a fortune in book tokens compared to the threat of that France win ....)

Yay, congratulations Esme ....

Honorary mention too to From the other side who also had a great last day to finish a close second thanks to Spain’s win.

The book tokens will be winging their way to you both shortly (... presumably you’ll be spending them here ...)

Cheers everyone ....

Breaking news .... apparently:

UEFA had previously suggested that, in the case of a tie, the outright Golden Boot winner would be determined by assists and then minutes played. However, European football’s governing body announced shortly before the final that a prestigious prize would be shared between those on the most goals.

Cody Gakpo, Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, Georges Mikautadze, Dani Olmo and Ivan Schranz all finished on three goals

Update incoming!!!

Here we go:

https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/images/uploads/euro2024-final-updated.png

So 3 people got a share of the 6-way Golden Boot according to the new Uefa rules ... and so our revised top 3 is:

1. Esme
2. Bram@Ladywood
3. From the other side

Congrats all ... (apparently, we also had a rule change just before the final which no one told me about, which means that the top 3 all get book tokens 😁)

Good morning all,

I have returned from annual leave, where I had no choice other than to watch the final in an Irish pub in a very small French town… to say I was in the minority of England-supporters would be an understatement. Upon the final whistle, the manager of the pub started playing celebratory songs… much to my upset and annoyance.

However, little did I know that they had heard through the grapevine about my victory here and the celebrations were actually aimed at me! If only I knew how inclusive and supportive the environment I was in actually was - I think there was a language barrier.

Thank you Shawn and to all who participated. Paul, as much as I am happy and grateful to have won this coveted prize, I definitely wish it had been you who had walked away triumphant.

All the best to all,
Esme

Well done Esme, happy reading.

So close and yet, so far again for England. Haven’t been able to post since Sunday, such was my disappointment.

Well organised Shawn
Delighted to finish runner up.
I don’t really need a book token as I already own a book.
