Compulsory Community Work for long term unemployed.

So, it’s official. Being long term unemployed is now a crime, to be punished by 26 weeks community service.

Considering this is a stiffer punishment than many get for shoplifting or mugging old ladies, should we now advise clients to consider a life of crime as an alternative to claiming benefits?

Only joking (I hope)!

I echo that. It is almost one year (22.11.10) since Chris Grayling last cancelled similar plans:
