ESA or UC?
Client on esa with sdp
change of circs : will move in with partner who claims UC
As they will move in together the SDP will vanish, so I assume no protection, and she will be added to his Uc claim?
She wants to stay on esa but I don’t think she can under these circs
thoughts?
If there is no need to claim any other benefit (eg Housing Benefit) then he can close his UC claim, and her ESA claim can continue.
Just to add she will lose the SDP tho if he doesn’t meet the criteria too - if she’s in the support group they could be better off on UC as the LCWRA element is higher

The thread above has a conversation about this. We are finding in a few examples that the DWP appear to be culturally resistant to the process !
You didn’t mention whether she is in the support group - might be worth claiming UC herself before moving to carry that over (if she is going to lose the SDP anyway).
You also didn’t mention if the partner claims PIP, but if there’s a chance of him being entitled he should claim before she moves in - to get the transitional SDP payment in UC. Bit of a long shot/time consuming, but thought it worth mentioning.
