Would anyone get the single pensioner premium in JSA anymore?
The benefits uprating for 2019/2020 still has an amount for a single pensioner premium in JSA.
However, I think this only applied before men and women’s pension age was equalised and it was possible for a man between women’s pension age and men’s pension age to claim JSA if he so chose as opposed to pension credit.
But now that it is equalised and pension credit kicks in at the same time as pension age for everyone I cannot see how anyone could be claiming JSA with this premium? Have I missed something? We’re uprating our benefit rates poster and will leave it out if not in existence anymore.
Any views welcome?
It’s a goner I think Daphne.
Continuing claims? I don’t have my books etc. with me to check as I’m in Australia atm (hee hee)

Don’t understand what you mean by a continuing claim Gareth?

I think JSA/ESA claims terminate upon the claimant reaching pension-age, so even existing claims won’t ever use the uprated figure.

Remember to remove the ESA single pensioner rates too!

Exactly.
