Data sharing with PDCS
I have heard that the DWP have been consulting on a major change to data sharing with local authorities from April 2012. This would allow LAs to find out which benefits people are on and also pass on details of when people enter hospital, residential care etc - all without the need for signed authority. I understand they are thinking of introducing primary legislation to this effect but I don’t know whether this is progressing or not. Does anyone else know the latest on this?
I can now answer my own question! This is in the Welfare Reform Bill - Part 5, sections 125 and 126. Currently going through Parliament.
