problems getting medical evidence from GP practices
Hi all
Probably still an ongoing issue. Anyone got any good approaches for ensuring we can get decent/good quality medical evidence from GP’s.
Thank you

NB in Newcastle there are ‘Primary Care Navigators’ who we work with
[ Edited: 26 Jun 2018 at 03:51 pm by clive ]if the client has been to see a specialist a tactic i use is to get copies of any letters that the specialist has subsequently sent back to the GP. these can usually be requested from the surgery pretty easily.
They usually contain clinical findings, prognosis etc and can be of use in some circumstances.
other than that, i find GP evidence often to be of limited value. they rarely comment on the direct issues at hand and even where they do its even rarer to see them take the time to explain how they arrived at their opinion.
the weight of GP evidence can obviously change based on the circumstances but in general i think its of limited value.
