Public info on backdating UC?
Is there any “official” guidance for the public on the possibility of backdating UC?
It’s buried in the ADM. And the UC pages have an A-Z which at least confirms that the word “backdating” does exist in the DWP’s lexicon. But I can’t see it in leafets etc.
There is also a section in the A-Z on ‘Permitted Work’. It too is empty.
I emailed UC ‘knowledge management’ to ask what this was about. Nearly a month on, no reply.
Just emailed them about backdating as well, to ask when they will put anything on it. There appears to be nothing on gov.uk about UC backdating.
Thanks Andrew (you’re very pro-active about these things!)
I must admit, I haven’t yet gone through a UC claim with someone, so I don’t know how possible backdating is dealt with in the claim process. I presume there must be a question to flag it up.

I wouldn’t be so sanguine. I’ve been discussing with DWP how they will deal with sale and rent back cases and they seem to expect the tenancy basis to be identified by the tenant ‘informing them’.
I’ve only done one online claim, but I can’t recall there being a backdating question. The questions follow the ‘gateway’ criteria, there is not much else.
