A world of pure imagination - not Willy Wonka but Touchbase
from the latest Touchbase in an article headed “Tax credits changes for Universal Credit claimants”
“In the past when people moved on to Universal Credit their tax credits account would have remained open until the end of the tax year.”

What on earth are they talking about? Who are these people who ‘in the past’ moved onto UC from tax credits?

I suppose technically there may have been one or two people who may have been working and claiming WTC and then job ended and claimed UC as in one of the live areas. Previously the tax credit account would have stayed open to the end of the year but now it won’t. But probably few and far between…
It’s a message from Happy Land, where it’s all good, it’s all popular and it’s all working well - so well that UC is releasing people from benefit dependency even in the past!!!!!
UC is rolling out, forwards and backwards too, isn’t that SUPER???
Five year olds working up the chimney in the 1800s will soon find that the new time-travelling UC is ‘rolled out’ to them. Despite their soot-induced COPD etc, they will still be in the ‘full conditionality’ group however.
I don’t bother reading touchbase anymore - it’s like a happy clappy make believe DWP land…bears no resemblance to the day to day problems clients are faced with.
Yes, it only doesn’t do things to your blood pressure if you can convince yourself it’s actually Viz.

Hi Alban, hope you’re doing well. On a more important Friday afternoon note, can I say how vastly superior the original musical film version of Willy Wonka is compared to the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp remake. Gene Wilder’s Wonka has the right mix of madness, humour and a little menace. Depp does some slightly creepy Michael Jackson impersonation. Back to MR/appeal rights on ignorance of facts supersession…
