I know that JSA can continue in payment through periods of incapacity for work so long as the period is no longer than 14 days and the necessary evidence is submitted (med certs).

This is found at JSA regs 2013 para 16 (5)...but this isn’t something new. The JSA regs 1996 para 55 has the same protection for a short term illness.

I can’t see that the 2013 regs bring anything new about this issue…am i missing something? What has changed?

I think the 2013 JSA Regs refer only to ‘new’ JSA claims, i.e. ones that take place in areas where Universal Credit has been introduced and IBJSA (and IRESA) claims can’t be made.

So I think they have just imported the same ol’ same ol’ (with some extra nasty bits) and juggled the Reg Numbers around (for instance ESA Reg 29 has become Reg 25 in the ‘new’ ESA)
