Morning all!

Just want to find out if anyone has experience of this scenario and what happended with JCP.

Client is due to be made redundant on 31/3/14 and has a job offer in place to start 01/05/2014. If he claims CB-JSA, is client still expected to look for work as per jobseeking conditions or are JCP more lenient. I understand what should happen as per regs, but want to find out what happens in practice.

Many thanks.

When I was made redundant, even with a job offer in hand they chased me round the block a few times with spurious job applications. Then I moved to the area I’d be working in and to a JC that I’d never had professional dealings with and they were nice as pie for the 4 weeks before I started at my new job.

I think a lot will depend what mood the JC staff are in.

I had a client recently who was sanctioned (‘insufficient job search’) under very similar circumstances. She had a firm job offer (care worker) but couldn’t start work until her CRB check was complete. Someone at local JC verbally advised her to undertake some on-line training courses (which she did) but that she needn’t apply for any further vacancies but someone else overrode this and a 4 week sanction decision was issued. She’s requested MR (still ongoing).

So yes- does depend very much on who you get, what mood they’re in and how much pressure local JC staff are under to issue sufficient numbers of sanctions in any given week.
