‘illuminating’ Q&A from Hansard -

Jonathan Reynolds: To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions how many people have claimed universal credit at Ashton-under-Lyne jobcentre since 29 April 2013. [161707]

Mr Hoban: ... The Department is working to guidelines set by the UK Statistics Authority to ensure we are able to publish statistics that meet high quality standards at the earliest opportunity. We intend to publish Official Statistics on pathfinder areas in autumn 2013.

Well they’ve got five fingers on each hand so it shouldn’t be too hard.

I cannot recall where I picked this up, but someone told me that by the end of May there had been nine notifications to Tameside Council of possible CTR candidates who had made new UC claims. These would all have been conventional general needs renters; looking at the pathfinder client group profile you might guess there were perhaps about another nine or ten who are non-deps living with parents.

That was said at NAWRA at the beginning of June.

300 was the target. Putting together information from a variety of sources it is apparent that 10 claims have been made. Small wonder they need to roll out elsewhere rapidly.
