Travelling time to and from work ...
Good day all !
Is it true that JCP can expect a cl to walk to and from work if it takes them 90 minutes each way to do so, ie : the length of 2 football matches if no added time is played ?
I’ve read that public transport journeys can take this long but not anything in relation to a persons walking time ?

I cannot find anything specific re public transport v walking. Maybe someone else can chip in with this. A person can make restrictions on the localities withing which they are available for work providing they can show that they still have reasonable prospects of securing employment. (reg. 8 JSA Regs). See page 443 of CPAG for evidence considered for “reasonable prospects.”
Is walking the only means of getting to the job (e.g. no public transport on route)?
DMG chapter 34 looks at appropriate means of travel and says, at para 34452 -
‘If other forms of transport are not available, it is reasonable to expect a healthy person with no disabilities to spend up to an hour each way walking to and from work in the absence of any objections. For example, a claimant should not have to walk in the dark through a dangerous inner-city area.’

My daughter cycles round Oxford every day to get to college and I can only agree, in some places cycling is like freefall parachute jumping !
