Good morning

A while ago there was a thread in the discussion forum on this subject but I cannot find it.

I’m looking for a list of all the legislation that points to the need for local authorities to provide information and advice to vulnerable clients and certain client groups, or where there is a statutory duty to do so, either in-house or by funding others.

for example
Fairer Charging Act - Adult Social Services
Chid Poverty Bill - to mitigate the effects of child poverty

Can any one point me in the right direction to the old thread or can fellow welfs start a new list?

Thanks

Thanks Paul

So far I have found the following to be a useful start: -

•  NHS and Community Care Act 1990
•  Disability Discrimination Act 1995
•  The Carers (Recognition and Services) Act 1995
•  Child Poverty Act 2010
•  Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970
•  Children Leaving Care Act 2000

Pete, one other that just sprang to mind is under section 179(1) of the Housing Act 1996 part VII, as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002, local authorities have a duty to ensure that advice and information about homelessness and prevention of homelessness are available free of charge to anyone in their district. Whether this has been subsequently amended again, you would probably need to check with someone like Shelter, as Department for Communities and Local Government have been “simplifying” many of these kind of duties lately.
