"on the mat"
Wed 06-Apr-05 11:33 AM

I am sure I have read somewhere that claims that are received first thing on a Monday morning can be assessed as if the claim form was handed in on the weekend.
This way someone's claim starts from the previous benefit week rather than from the following week because it was handed in on the Monday - effectively it is seen as being "on the mat" awaiting collection due to the fact that the offices were closed over the weekend and the form couldn't be handed in at that time.
Am I correct about this or have I made it up??

If anyone can give me the piece of legislation that covers this It would be much appreciated as I can't find it.
