Benefits uprating
Wed 19-Jan-05 01:57 PM

My understanding is that the amount of benefits uprating for Retirement Pension each year is a matter of public record so there is no need to report increases in RP each year. I'd even suspect that HB software can do this automaticaly. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Where the claimant does not get Pension Credit, they are still responsible for reporting a change in pension to the LA for HB purposes.

However, you are mostly correct that the software will do this automatically. Unfortunatly, this year (as last) a different percentage increase applies to members of a couple's pensions (3.15% and 3.08% I think). As a result many pensioner couples who only have their pensions automatically uprated by LA software may find the amount to be out by 2p-3p a week.
