I am trying to assist a client with claiming backdated Housing Benefit. For the relevant period, the client's Brother (who does not reside with the Brother) provided the client with financial assistance of £1150 per month, for two months, to help towards the rent and cost of living.

How is entitlement to Housing Benefit affected, if at all, if it was:

(1) a gift?
(2) a loan?

Has anyone come across this scenario or knows where guidance can be found?
