alcholism and DLA LRmob
Fri 14-Oct-05 08:32 AM

Hi, i have a DLA tribunal for a client who has alcohol dependency.

I am looking for any CDs relating to the mobility component. Cl is prone to falls when intoxicated in the street. Has also been attacked in the street. Cl often wanders off and unable to find way home. He is also unable to read street signs or write, but this is not due to any learning difficulty as far as we know.

Any advice or pointers on this one? Thanks.

There's some commentary and CD's at page 138 of Bonner (2004).

I've not had a chance to look through the new books yet, we've only just received them!

If the falls occur only as a result of being under the influence then they can't be taken into account (Commissioner Bano.....cant remember the number though).
While alcohol dependence is considered an illness it appears that you have to base your arguments on underlying conditions or conditions relating to misuse i.e. liver problems, heart problems etc.
