Housing Benefit and Payment of Mortgage
Thu 19-Jan-06 03:31 PM

To all these knowledgeable Welfare Rights Officers.

Can you help me please?

I have client who is 60 (Learning Disabilities) and not working. He came to us with money problems. Client has signed a tenancy agreement for sheltered accommodation (to start paying rent from 18/01/2006). He has signed this without selling the house he lives in at the moment which has a mortgage on it. Question: Can you be helped with mortgage costs and also apply for housing benefit on the rented accom. at the same time?

Thanks in anticipation

Lorraine
