Full time Student
Sat 14-Jan-06 10:26 AM

any swift experience would be appreciated on this one.

Client is a full time student, however due to personal circumstances has had to seek a short term occupancy agreement in supportive accommodation.

The college she is attending has granted the client leave, however they cannot take her of the register as it were, as coursework needs to be handed in by April, therefore they are still classed as a full time student.

The client is awaiting payment of Incapacity benefit.

As full time students are not eligible for HB is there any way around this anybody has experience of??

Regards

When did your client make the IB claim? Is it possible for her to claim DLA mid or high rate care?

Thanks for your response.

She claimed IB approx. 2nd week in December, which is awaiting payment.

She is not eligible for DLA care at all.

HE rather than FE student? Possibly one of our students (Uni Teesside) via the college?

F/T students eligible for the disability premium are eligible for HB -your client is eligible for ICB but not long-term? Possibly not then eligible for HB.

An alternative (if HE student) would be Access to Learning Fund which unis/colleges administer, payable to students in hardship or with exceptional costs (never a guarantee but worth checking out).
