The Work and Pensions Minister, James Plaskitt, recently addressed the Social Security Consortium (SSC) - a group of voluntary sector organisations, that meets to discuss social security legislation and related policy - and said he was keen to undertake a radical and far-reaching review of the social fund and its role in tackling poverty.
As a follow-up to the meeting, the SSC has written to Mr. Plaskitt reiterating the main points it made to him regarding the need for a wide range of social fund reforms.
