benefit agents at airports???
Wed 08-Nov-06 02:13 PM

Hi everyone,

i came across some interesting news from one of my service users last week:-
on his return from a few weeks abroad he was approached (at the airport) by some 'officials' who asked about his work status and his nino. a week or so later a visiter from the local jobcentre plus arrived on his door step to check his passport and question him on his stay abroad.

He stressed the fact they were not immigration officials.
i wondered whether anyone else know of such procedures and if so, what the legality of it was?

i certainly would not want to land at heathrow and have to answer questions about my work status and provide my nino!!!

I don't like the sound of this. If approached at a UK airport and asked my work status and NINO I would tell the person to "go fish", anyway I don't know my NINO, so there.

I would be interested to know more about this.
