Upfront Work Search
Has anyone seen the legislation to support “Upfront Work Search”?
Day One Conditionality (Upfront Work Search) is covered by existing legislation: Jobseekers Act 1995 and Welfare Reform Act 2012.
Just got this from the DWP. So turn up with a CV when you make a new claim or else you won’t get your money.
The JCP are calling this DAY ONE CONDITIONALITY
What it means is that from the 1st April 14 All clients making a new claim WILL HAVE to have the following with them when they turn up to their appointment.
A CV
BE SIGNED UP TO UNIVERSAL JOBMATCH ( To do this the JCP must give you cookies fact sheet and that can only be done at appointment then you could sign up.)
Appropriate Email Address
so not .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) etc
This kind of detail will normally be in delegated legislation. Does anyone know the relevant SI as this has the hallmarks of a blanket policy.
No Nevip
But it makes no sense will claimant get support to draw up CV, who is dsylexic, a non-native speaker etc.
2 Use of UJM is not mandatory the UJM guidance states that and so have numerous FOI’s
Also FOI’s confirm one does NOT have to give email address to DWP. It is not mandatory nor is there anything in the legislation or the regs to support this.
Unless on 1 April a massive swamp of SI,‘s come down I see this conditionality malarkey failing miserably.

If they insist on that then the problem is, as in much of this type of stuff, that the courts only get to intervene later rather than sooner. Until then, behold the chaos.
Agreed NEVIP
