Full Time Study Over 25 & IS
Good Afternoon All
I have had a query and I am a little unsure of the answer..
I have a resident 26 with a child (3) on IS. She wants to go into Full Time Study - which I believe she can do.
She wants to take out a Adult 24+ Loan and will have a Travel Costs paid for, I can’t seem to find out if this will be taken as income? Can anyone help?
Thanks,

It would appear that these loans are indeed made under s22.
[ Edited: 5 Jul 2013 at 11:49 am by nevip ]The Application form linked here makes reference to s22 of the Teaching and Higher Eduction Act 1998:

Generally, student maintenance loans that are available must count as income (above the small disregards), whether or not the student actually takes out the loan.
(gov.uk is unhelpful here. It points out that a parents learning allowance won’t affect your benefits, but doesn’t appear to warn you that the Advanced Learning loan likely will affect your benefit)
edit: nevip beat me ..
