Citizens Advice Bureau joins force with payday lender Wonga.
Guardian reports that Medway Citizens Advice bureau is joining forces with the payday lender Wonga to research the finances and borrowing experiences of consumers.
The controversial and high-profile lender is providing technological support and paying for Citizens Advice employees in the Medway area of Kent to be trained by a professional research company to question between 6,000 and 10,000 people about their employment, income status and debts.
In one of the more eye-catching statements, the report notes that Henry Raine, head of regulatory and public affairs for Wonga, said he anticipated that some of those being surveyed would have problems with Wonga loans, but he added: “At least this will give us a chance to help sort their problems out.”
Would you want to be associated with them????????
The national organization is generally keen on “protecting the Citizens Advice brand”, I do wonder if CitA were ok with this. Not that they can easily prevent an individual bureau doing what they want.
