Tax Credit Renewals not being processed
We have already had 5 cases where we have done the renewal, but HMRC have not processed it. Clients have now started seeing their payments stopped, and the regular “renewal not completed” warning letter.
It appears that where the renewal was reply-required, but the figures actually did match up to the HMRC data, many advisers on the phone or web-chat assumed it was an auto-renewal, without checking, and didn’t bother processing (due to the fact that most renewals really were auto-renewals this year).
I was told in one phone call this week that they’ve been inundated with calls due to this issue.
