UC and U35 lost job due to Covid-19
My client is 20 years old, living in a one bedroom flat working full time and doing well. He has now lost his job (not worked long enough for full employee rights) and UC will only pay him £538.03 per month due to the single room rate. His rent is £550 pcm.
Aside from speak to his landlord there’s not really much I can do for him. I suspect there will be many many others in the same situation.
Am I missing anything?
Just ensure they are aware of this:

Other than a DHP I can’t think of anything. Councils are being given some additional funding but I’m not sure whether it can be used for this type of situation. Worth contacting them to ask?
Yes the council’s have had an increase in the DHP allowance so he’ll be able to claim through that as well once UC is up and running.
That’s good. I guess this is still going to leave people facing possession action for rent arrears in 3 months time or whenever that changes.

Hi
Where have you seen this please?
Many thanks!
