Supported housing and Universal Credit
Support Solutions has produced a briefing on the possibility of supported housing and vulnerable people being excluded from Universal Credit.
Amongst their key points are that:
• That Universal Credit may exclude people defined as “vulnerable”, including people living in supported housing;
• That “vulnerability” may be defined by the DWP;
• Any definition of “vulnerability” may inform who lives in supported housing;
• The administration of welfare for vulnerable people may be locally-based;
• Supported housing may not be impacted by revised service charge regulations if it doesn’t fall within Universal Credit.
