PIP claimant moving from England to Scotland
Our client lives in England and receives PIP. He is thinking of moving to Scotland for personal reasons. My understanding is that he will remain on PIP but will have the option of moving to ADP if he becomess a permanent resident. There seems no reason to switch immediately as the payment levels are the same, at least not until his PIP award is coming to an end. Is that right?
He won’t have an option, as such. Once he reports the move to DWP he will be put on the transfer list. If he moves back to England before the transfer can take place he’ll (presumably) remain on PIP.
If he reports a change in his health he’ll be moved up to a certain point in the queue for transfer. He won’t have the option to switch immediately or submit a new claim to ADP (unless his PIP stopped).
EDIT: Actually, I’m not confident where movers (where that is the only CiC) are placed in the queue for transfer. I don’t see any reason why they’d be given higher or lower priority than existing residents, but hey ho, I don’t know how the internal SSS systems work.
